This session will provide an overview of the series, introduce Tennessee women progressives and their actions in the public sphere, and set them in historic context.

Dr. Mary Evins is Research Professor of History at Middle Tennessee State University and coordinator of the American Democracy Project.

“ ‘Agitate, Educate, Organize’: The Tennessee WCTU and the Power of Feminist Leadership”

Dr. Carole Bucy is the Davidson County Historian and Professor of History at Volunteer State Community College, Gallatin.
