String band and country blues musician Howard “Louie Bluie” Armstrong’s life spanned most of the 20th century. Armstrong’s career took him from his boyhood home in Campbell County to around the world. In this session, two of Armstrong’s acolytes will honor their connections to him and comment on his legacy. Grammy Award recipient Dom Flemons is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, actor, music scholar, historian, and record collector. A cofounder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Flemons has released five albums under his own name. Dr. Elijah Wald toured with Armstrong in the last years of Armstrong’s career. Wald is a folk blues guitarist, music historian, and Grammy Award recipient.
