This session will include a discussion of what the outcome of the Civil War meant in Tennessee to African Americans and how the ex-Confederates responded to those changes. It will also address the challenges of industrialization and will end with the celebration of the Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition in 1897.

Tennessee 101 is funded in part by a grant from Humanities Tennessee, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
